Established in January 2017, CBD USA Grown is a worldwide wholesale CBD distributor of quality broad spectrum CBD products purchased only from the top 5 growers, extractors and formulators in North America.  Our product line, Above Wellness, is created using only 0.0% THC phytocannabinoid-rich hemp oil. Since our inception, Founder, Deborah Gestner and her partner Phil Luci have been diligently working toward providing CBD-infused products to the masses, as well as education on the many benefits of CBD products and instruction on how to use them.

Greenleaf Golden's warehouse is 10,000 square feet of climate-controlled space, with an additional 13,000 square feet of overflow space onsite. U.S. Hemp Roundtable

Launched in early 2017, the U.S. Hemp Roundtable is a coalition of dozens of hemp companies – representing every link of the product chain, from seed to sale – and all of the industry’s major national grassroots organizations. Because of the uniqueness and diversity in their CBD business approach, CBD USA Grown's Founder, Deborah Gestner was invited to join the organization's Board of Directors. Today, Deborah serves as the first female on the board.  The U.S. Hemp Roundtable was integral to getting the 2018 Farm Bill passed that established hemp federally as an agricultural commodity, permanently removing it from regulation as a controlled substance.

Labels, Labels, & More Labels

 By Deborah Gestner,
President/CEO/Founder, CBD USA GROWN™

Navigating the realm of hemp-derived CBD products today is more than just selecting a legal product or liking an attractive label. There are many facets of Hemp-derived CBD products which are critical to understand before you as a retailer start purchasing any CBD product for your customers or even for customers to trust you as a retailer.

LABELS, LABELS, LABELS are key. Many of the popular and well manufactured hemp-derived products will be voluntarily pulled by their farms and wholesale distributors from the market this summer/fall to make way for more accurate labeling. This is a good thing. Many of the more reputable brands like CBD USA GROWN, Charlotte’s Web and CBDoil+ by CV Sciences have already started to update their labels. These changes impacted both distributors and whitelabel customers. By providing more accurate readable information, hemp-derived products will be more consumer-friendly, which has been brought about by new state regulations and FDA commentaries.

CBD USA GROWN serves on the US HEMP ROUNDTABLE along with CW and CVSciences and have made strides with making recommendations to the FDA Committee from a strong position of responsible suppliers and distributors. Always with the consumer in mind, the US HEMP ROUNDTABLE and its members support the FDA and their movement towards guidelines and requirements for labeling. Various states have followed suit by creating standards and best practices for CBD products to be governed and sometimes registered to protect the consumer at large. We applaud the states and federal efforts – but settling down to one national standard will take time.

By now, the CBD suppliers should have been in touch with their retail stores to inform them of their changes for labeling which they are responsible for. We at CBD USA GROWN have been recalling our products and replacing them at our retailers’ sites with the current and accurate labels for resale. Some states like Louisiana are requiring retailers to register their products with the state just so they have an idea of what type of products are being sold within their jurisdictions. Some communities in Florida are unclear about the products and the requirements so cities like Delray Beach are considering ordinances to put a moratorium on any CBD sales within their city. Just saying NO is not a way to address their concerns, Cities will have to catch up. But before cities can trust our industry, we have to police ourselves and create standards which are at a level that new regulations will be seamless when proposed and will not rock the industry when enacted.

Some of the highlights of LABELING that is in the processing of being established or is coming down then pike – depending on where you are in the country include:

• GS-1 registered bar codes for all products.
• QR code readers that connect directly to lab-sheets online for review of current product components.
• Batch/Lot information available on the bottle or label that match the lab-sheets online.
• Accurate lab sheets online with product information that is current and not years old.
• Address of the supplier and not just a post office box.
• Working phone number that is connected to customer service of the distributor.
• Clear information on the exact CBD CONTENT within the product.
• Clear information on the front of the label stating what kind of CBD is being sold, Isolate, Full Spectrum or Broad Spectrum.

More standards are coming. Many of the top brands have chosen to become certified by the US HEMP AUTHORITY which will provide the consumer with further level of confidence that their CBD meets and exceeds the current standards and requirements being established.

Hemp-derived products are from a very new and exciting industry. It will be a great asset to the consumer and wholesale market when all of the new standards are created and enacted. Look for your CBD to be changing soon. If it doesn’t… run!
